Bug Evolution Food Guide: What to Eat to Level Up Fast

What Should You Eat to Grow Faster?

Bug Evolution food turns your tiny hatchling into a bigger, stronger creature, and glowing orbs are an easy place to start. Collect larger orbs when you find them, then work sugar cubes and manageable prey into your route as you grow. Chasing a tough target can waste time you could spend eating nearby food.

There are several things to feed on beyond the ants near your starting area:

Food or preyWhat to know
Glowing orbsAvailable around the map; larger orbs give more growth than smaller ones.
Sugar cubesFound in the sand area and useful for gaining XP.
AcornsAnother food object you can feed on while exploring.
Eggs and larvaeFeeding targets that offer an alternative to chasing moving bugs.
Ants and cricketsEarly hunting targets that also appear in quests.
Caterpillars and pill bugsAdditional prey to work into your feeding route.

When you kill a bug, eat its body afterward. Moving straight to your next target leaves additional XP behind.

Follow an Orb, Sugar Cube, and Cave Route

Use these level targets to organize your next feeding run. Keep collecting convenient food along the way instead of walking past it just to reach the next destination.

Starting Out: Collect Orbs Toward Level 20

Finish the opening tutorial by collecting five orbs and following the evolution prompts. Once you can move around freely, sweep through nearby glowing orbs.

Prioritize larger orbs when they are within easy reach. Fight ants when you need them for a quest or can finish them quickly, but avoid spending your whole early run chasing small bugs.

The nighttime event offers double XP until sunrise. When it activates, keep feeding: an orb route gives you something productive to do without picking a fight.

Around Level 20: Head to the Sand Area

Try farming sugar cubes in the sand area from around level 20 toward level 40. They provide substantial XP and give you a feeding target that does not run away.

Watch nearby players while you eat. A sugar cube is only useful if you can stay there long enough to feed on it; leave when a much larger creature starts closing in.

Around Level 40: Try the Central Cave

At around level 40, try hunting bugs in the large cave near the middle of the map. Use this stretch to work toward level 60.

Kill prey, consume the remains, and check your surroundings before starting another fight. Keep collecting orbs whenever a hunt would take too long or expose you to stronger players.

Pair Feeding With Coin Quests

Food builds your current creature, while quests help you earn coins for further progression. Open the QUEST panel and look through the QUICK tab before choosing what to hunt.

Bug Evolution — Pair Feeding With Coin Quests

Examples of feeding-related goals include:

QuestRequirementCoin reward
Bite 14 AntsBite ants until the counter reaches 14+42 coins
Eat 17 CricketsEat 17 crickets+56 coins
Eat 19 BeetlesEat 19 beetles+64 coins

Read the action word carefully. Biting and eating are separate quest instructions. After killing prey for an eating objective, feed on the body and watch the counter.

Choose nearby targets that match your active goal. If you already need crickets, feeding on them lets you pursue growth and a coin reward during the same trip.

Choose Upgrades That Keep You Feeding

Your upgrade choices can support faster eating, easier travel, or safer escapes. Pick the benefit that addresses what is slowing your current run:

  • XP gain: Take an XP increase when your priority is leveling.
  • Bite speed: Prioritize it when you are spending a lot of time biting food or prey.
  • Movement speed: Use it to move between food and create distance from threats.
  • Stamina: Give yourself more room to sprint or keep a flying creature airborne.

Avoid choosing only offensive upgrades if larger players keep catching you. Extra damage will not help you finish a feeding route when you cannot escape the next attacker.

Feed Toward Your Next Bug Tree Unlock

Growth gives you a reason to keep eating beyond getting physically larger:

  • The Bug Tree offers 30+ insects and spiders to evolve into.
  • You can team up with friends and hunt together.

Track your next creature so you can see its requirements while farming. The Housefly unlock, for example, requires level 12 and 200 coins. Combine food collection with coin quests to work toward both requirements.

Flying forms give you another way to move around danger, but flight uses stamina. Watch your stamina before relying on an airborne escape, and avoid landing beside a stronger player.

Pay attention to area banners, too. Whispering Woods carries a Lv 15+ tag. Read that warning before following food into the area, especially when you have just started growing a new creature.
