How the Bug Tree Works
Your next evolution changes more than your appearance. The Bug Evolution tree gives you new creatures to unlock, but switching forms can also put you back into a vulnerable growth stage. Pick a target before spending coins so you can work toward its requirements while keeping your current bug alive.
In Bug Evolution on Roblox, progression combines growing your current creature with unlocking different playable bugs:
- You begin as a tiny spider.
- The roster includes 30+ insects and spiders, including flies, moths, grasshoppers, tarantulas, and giant prehistoric beasts.
Eating food increases your size and strength. Levels bring trait choices, while new creatures have their own unlock requirements. Opening another bug and growing that bug are separate steps: becoming a Housefly starts another growth cycle rather than carrying your large spider body into the new form.
Early Unlocks: Housefly, Grasshopper, and Black Widow
Finish the opening tutorial before chasing a distant evolution. Collect five glowing orbs for the opening evolution, then continue eating food and hunting manageable bugs.

Your early choices include Housefly and Grasshopper. Use these milestones to decide what to track:
| Bug | Unlock detail |
|---|---|
| Housefly | Reach level 12 and save 200 coins |
| Grasshopper | Available as an evolution choice at level 12 |
| Black Widow | Costs 450 coins |
Track Housefly in the quest interface to follow its level and coin requirements. Later, you can track Black Widow as your next target.
You do not need to switch immediately when another creature becomes available. Continue farming with your grown Garden Spider if you are collecting food comfortably and want to build up more coins before starting another creature.
Claim daily rewards before spawning, too. They provide coins, and the daily reward sequence includes Sun Spider.
Choosing Between Flight, Venom, and Later Branches
Choose your next creature around the ability you want to use, then inspect the branch beyond it.

Housefly: Grow Into Flight
Housefly begins in a larval stage before developing into its flying form. Once you have wings, flight lets you move above ground threats and creates another escape option.
Watch stamina and learn the controls shown at the bottom right before flying into danger. Flight is useful, but exhausting yourself during a chase can leave you stranded.
Black Widow: Poison Attacks
Black Widow applies poison and has a Venom Bite ability. Its attacks give you a different way to fight than simply chasing targets and trading ordinary bites.
Switching to Black Widow starts you from an egg again. Move toward accessible food and rebuild your size before picking fights with larger players.
Locust: A Route Toward Later Choices
The Locust route leads toward a later choice between Tarantula and Dragonfly. Selecting Tarantula can bring up a requirement to grow as a Locust first.
Read that prerequisite before committing to a route. Having coins ready does not replace the required growth on another creature.
Locust also has a jumping ability, Leap Spring. Use it to create distance when a stronger bug closes in rather than staying in a fight you cannot finish.
Farm Levels Without Constantly Fighting Players
Food collection can be faster than chasing small enemies around the map. Prioritize larger glowing orbs when they are accessible, and eat defeated bugs rather than leaving their bodies behind.
For a structured leveling route, work through these targets:
- Up to level 20: Collect glowing orbs and keep moving between food pickups.
- From level 20 to 40: Head to the sand area and eat sugar cubes.
- From level 40 to 60: Move into the large cave near the middle of the map and hunt its bugs.
Treat those ranges as farming targets. Read area banners as you travel; Whispering Woods displays a Lv 15+ tag.
Ants, caterpillars, eggs, and pill bugs also provide feeding opportunities. Attack targets you can finish efficiently, then consume the remains before moving on. Avoid spending a long chase on a tiny player while nearby food sits untouched.
When the Night Hunt event announces double XP until sunrise, focus on feeding. Use that window to finish the growth requirement for your next unlock.
Pick Traits That Support Your Current Goal
Trait choices appear as you level. Match them to the problem slowing your progress:
- Choose XP gain when your priority is reaching the next growth requirement.
- Choose bite speed to spend less time attacking food and prey.
- Choose movement speed or stamina when travel and escaping predators are your main obstacles.
- Choose damage upgrades when you are actively hunting tougher targets.
An early XP trait can provide a 10% bonus. Take it when available if you want to push through levels faster.
Keep mobility in mind even on a combat build. A large spider can still struggle to catch a smaller, faster target, and growing bigger can make tight caves and logs harder to navigate.
Earn Coins While Working Toward an Unlock
Use quests to earn coins alongside your normal feeding route. The quest interface includes quick and hourly goals, so pick objectives that overlap with what you are already doing.
Examples include:
| Quest | Coin reward |
|---|---|
| Bite 14 Ants | +42 coins |
| Eat 17 Crickets | +56 coins |
| Stay alive for 7 minutes | +57 coins |
| Eat 19 Beetles | +64 coins |
| Reach Level 30 | +150 coins |
Read the objective carefully. Biting ants and eating crickets ask for different actions, so attacking a target alone does not satisfy every feeding quest.
Collect playtime rewards when they become available. Use daily rewards and quest coins to fund your next creature.
Protect Your Growth Before Switching Forms
Larger players can kill you while you farm, and death can cost levels. Avoid crowded bonus XP zones while small; the extra experience is harder to use when stronger bugs keep interrupting your run.
Check the map for the largest player in the server and move your feeding route away from that threat. Team up with friends or invite players through the team interface to hunt together.
Before changing creatures, identify nearby food and room to retreat. Your newly hatched bug needs time to grow, even if the creature you just unlocked looks powerful in the menu.
