How Spider Progression Works
Your tiny hatchling is an easy meal until you put some size behind its bite. Bug Evolution spider progression takes you from collecting starter food to growing, hunting, and unlocking creatures through the Bug Tree. Surviving long enough to build momentum matters just as much as picking your next form.
In play Bug Evolution on Roblox, eating makes your creature bigger and stronger, while evolution opens up different creatures and abilities.
- The Bug Tree includes 30+ insects and spiders, including flies, grasshoppers, and tarantulas.
- Each server holds up to 15 players, so other hunters can interrupt your feeding route.
Start by following the tutorial and eating five orbs to reach the early spider evolution. Continue attacking manageable prey and eating the remains to gain more XP.
Keep two decisions separate: growing your current creature and unlocking another creature. Switching forms can put you back into an egg or another early growth stage. Finish feeding somewhere relatively quiet before making that switch, rather than starting a small new creature beside a larger opponent.
Spider Forms: Garden Spider, Black Widow, and Tarantula
The Bug Tree branches into insects as well as spiders. Expect to spend time playing another type of bug while working toward a later spider unlock.

Garden spider
The garden spider is your starting spider option. It can hunt ants and caterpillars, feed on larger targets as it grows, and use a pounce ability.
Stay with it while you have a productive feeding route. Unlocking a housefly or grasshopper gives you another choice; it doesn't mean you need to abandon a growing spider immediately.
Use pounce when closing on prey, but avoid turning every moving target into a chase. A smaller creature that keeps escaping can pull you away from food you could have eaten without a fight.
Black Widow
The Black Widow brings poison into combat and has a venom bite ability. Its unlock costs 450 coins, alongside the progression requirements displayed in the Bug Tree.
Track its quest so you can follow the remaining requirements while feeding. Once you switch, rebuild your size before picking fights with established hunters.
Use the venom bite to poison a target, then continue attacking. Poison is part of this spider's offense; keep biting rather than waiting for the effect to finish every fight for you.
Tarantula
The tarantula becomes an option later in progression, with Locust growth involved in reaching its unlock. Plan for that intermediate creature instead of assuming the Black Widow branch leads directly into every later spider.
Open the Bug Tree before committing coins to your next unlock. Follow the connections toward the creature you want, and check the displayed growth requirement before changing forms.
What to Eat for Faster Growth
Combat and feeding are separate parts of the leveling loop. After killing an ant or another edible bug, eat its body to collect the additional XP.

Build your route around food you can consume consistently:
- Glowing orbs: Collect these while small or while moving between larger food targets.
- Eggs and larvae: Feed on these when you find an accessible cluster.
- Ants and caterpillars: Attack manageable targets, then finish eating their remains.
- Pill bugs: Use them as larger feeding targets once your creature can handle the fight.
- Sugar cubes: Look for these in the sand area.
- Cave bugs: Move toward these later, once you've built enough strength for tougher hunting.
Don't spend a long stretch biting something just because it is large. Compare the time it takes to kill and consume it with the food available nearby. Keep collecting orbs when hunting slows your progress.
Watch for the Night Hunt announcement, which offers double XP until sunrise. Use that window to feed continuously. Avoid spending the bonus chasing a fast player across the map when nearby food can keep your XP moving.
Choose Traits Around Your Current Problem
Trait choices include XP gain, stamina, movement, bite speed, damage, and defensive options. Pick upgrades that address what is interrupting your run.
Choose XP gain while you have room to feed safely. An early trait option offers a 10% XP buff, giving you more growth from your feeding loop.
Choose movement speed or stamina when you struggle to escape. Larger hunters can pursue you across the map, and sprinting becomes less useful once you've exhausted your stamina.
Choose bite speed when feeding takes too long. Faster bites help you work through food targets more quickly. Add damage when your current prey takes too many attacks to bring down.
Avoid spending every choice on offense while leaving yourself unable to move. A large spider can still lose a chase to a smaller, faster creature, and extra size can make narrow spaces awkward to navigate.
Earn Coins While Working Toward Your Next Spider
Claim daily rewards and playtime rewards when they become available. Then track a creature unlock and complete quests alongside your normal feeding.
The QUICK quest panel includes goals for biting, eating, and surviving. Pay attention to the verb: biting ants and eating crickets ask you to perform different actions.
| Quest goal | Coin reward |
|---|---|
| Bite 14 Ants | +42 coins |
| Eat 17 Crickets | +56 coins |
| Stay alive for 7 minutes | +57 coins |
| Eat 19 Beetles | +64 coins |
| Reach Level 30 | +150 coins |
Match your feeding route to the active objective. If you're working on crickets, finish eating them; if you're close to completing a survival timer, avoid starting an unnecessary fight.
Keep your next Bug Tree purchase in view before spending coins elsewhere. A larger balance alone won't complete a creature's growth requirements, so work on both parts together.
Survive Other Players and Recognize Dangerous Areas
Check the map before heading into another area. Sunny Meadow has no level tag on its entrance banner, while Whispering Woods displays Lv 15+.
Treat that level tag as a reason to assess your current creature before moving deeper. Reaching the number doesn't remove the danger from stronger players already feeding there.
Team up with friends and use the team interface to coordinate hunts. Check actual team membership before approaching another creature; sharing the same spider form isn't enough reason to assume you can feed beside it safely.
In Whispering Woods, an EMPEROR SCORPION encounter announces itself with a red BOSS FIGHT banner, a boss timer, and a skull on the minimap. Use those cues to recognize when you've entered a boss encounter.
Keep an escape route in mind while feeding. Small gaps can offer room to maneuver, but a growing spider can become too large to fit through the same passage later. Move out of tight caves and logs before your size leaves you struggling to turn or retreat.
