How to Unlock the Grasshopper
The Bug Evolution grasshopper becomes an evolution option at level 12, alongside the housefly. It gives you an early creature goal while you learn to gather food, earn coins, and avoid larger predators. Reach that milestone with your starting spider, then open the Bug Tree to review the grasshopper’s unlock requirements.
Your starting point and evolution menu are straightforward:
| Progression feature | In-game detail |
|---|---|
| Starting form | Tiny spider |
| Evolution menu | Bug Tree |
| Creature roster | 30+ insects |
| Available creature types | Flies, moths, grasshoppers, tarantulas, and giant prehistoric beasts |
Finish the opening tutorial before chasing fights. Collect food orbs, grow your spider, and keep feeding as new upgrade choices appear. Leveling and earning coins both matter when working toward another creature, so claim rewards alongside your regular food gathering.

Grasshopper or Housefly?
Both creatures appear as options around the same early progression milestone, but the housefly has a specific entry requirement: level 12 and 200 coins.

The housefly can fly once it develops beyond its initial larval stage. That gives it a way to travel above ground threats, although stamina still matters. Don’t choose another creature expecting it to inherit that ability; inspect its own stats and controls before committing.
Compare the stat displays in the creature selection menu. Check what each choice offers against the problems you’re actually having: reaching food, surviving attacks, or dealing damage.
You can also keep playing your garden spider after unlocking alternatives. If you’re already growing comfortably and collecting coins, continue that run before switching. Unlocking another creature gives you a choice; it doesn’t force an immediate change.
Reach Level 12 and Build Your Coin Supply
Keep your food route simple while working toward the grasshopper. Larger orbs give more growth than smaller ones, and defeated insects provide food you can eat after the fight.

Use these habits to keep progressing:
- Collect larger food orbs when the route is clear. Avoid crossing a dangerous fight just to reach one.
- Finish eating defeated bugs. Don’t leave the body behind and immediately chase another target.
- Claim daily and playtime rewards. These add rewards alongside your normal feeding.
- Track quick and hourly quests. Match your food gathering and hunting to the objectives currently available.
Quick quest examples include biting 14 ants for 42 coins, eating 17 crickets for 56 coins, and staying alive for seven minutes for 57 coins. Read the active objective carefully: biting and eating are different requirements.
Another quest asks you to eat 19 beetles for 64 coins. The Reach Level 30 quest awards 150 coins, giving you another level milestone with a coin reward beyond the early creature choices.
If nearby insects take too long to defeat, return to collecting food. Don’t spend an entire growth run chasing a target that keeps escaping while easier food sits nearby.
Choose Upgrades and Stay Alive
Leveling offers choices that include damage, speed, health, and other traits. Pick upgrades around the obstacle slowing your current run.
Choose an XP-gain option when your priority is reaching the next level requirement. Take movement or stamina upgrades when escaping larger players is the problem. Increase bite speed when feeding and attacking take too long, or choose damage when fights drag on.
Watch the map before entering another area. Some zones carry recommended levels, including Lv 15+, and higher rewards can put you close to stronger creatures. Stay within areas you can handle while building toward your unlock.
Servers hold up to 15 players, so keep checking your surroundings even during quiet feeding runs. Use the team feature to group with friends and hunt together. Before taking another fight, leave yourself enough stamina to retreat.
