How to Reach the Tarantula

The Bug Evolution tarantula gives you a spider to work toward, but reaching it means spending time on the Locust branch. Follow that route on the Bug Tree so your leveling moves you toward the creature you want. Food, coins, and survival all matter along the way.

Tarantulas are part of the game's roster of more than 30 insects and spiders. The Bug Tree presents the tarantula and dragonfly as choices after progressing through Locust.

Follow this progression:

  1. Complete the opening tutorial. Collect five orbs to reach your early spider evolution, then continue eating and growing.
  2. Unlock Housefly. This early option requires level 12 and 200 coins.
  3. Continue toward Locust. Follow this branch when working toward the tarantula rather than taking the Black Widow detour.
  4. Grow your Locust. The tarantula path asks you to grow as a Locust, with level 28 as the growth target.
  5. Return to the Bug Tree. Select the tarantula option and review its displayed requirements before spending your coins.

Switching to another creature starts its growth cycle again. Leave yourself time to raise the new form instead of expecting it to inherit your previous creature's size.

Build XP Without Chasing Every Fight

Glowing food orbs let you gain XP without committing to a fight. Larger orbs give more XP, so prioritize them when you can reach them safely.

Mix food collection with manageable prey. Ants, caterpillars, beetles, and pill bugs all appear during progression. After defeating a bug, eat its body rather than immediately running toward another target.

Use these habits while raising Locust:

  • Collect nearby food between fights. Keep gaining XP while moving through the map.
  • Finish eating defeated prey. Don't abandon the food after doing the work of killing it.
  • Take advantage of Night Hunt. Its nighttime bonus provides double XP until sunrise.
  • Avoid lengthy pursuits. Return to food collection when another creature keeps escaping.

Sugar cubes in the sandy area offer another food target. Keep an eye on nearby players while feeding; standing beside a valuable meal still leaves you exposed.

Fund Your Evolution With Quests and Rewards

Claim daily rewards and playtime rewards while saving for the Bug Tree. Keep a creature objective tracked, then use the QUICK quest tab for additional coin goals.

Bug Evolution — Fund Your Evolution With Quests and Rewards

These tasks give you specific targets during a leveling run:

QuestRequired progressCoin reward
Bite 14 AntsBite 14 ants42 coins
Eat 17 CricketsEat 17 crickets56 coins
Stay alive for 7 minutesSurvive for 7 minutes57 coins
Eat 19 BeetlesEat 19 beetles64 coins

Match your feeding route to an active quest. If you're already hunting crickets, work toward the cricket objective while gaining XP from food.

Read the quest wording carefully. A biting objective and an eating objective ask for different actions, so watch the progress counter instead of assuming every kill completes the task.

Keep Your Growth Run Alive

Other players can attack you while you're growing. Check the map for the largest player and pay attention to area recommendations; Whispering Woods carries a Lv 15+ label.

Use the team invitation system to group up with friends and hunt together. While small, avoid approaching much larger creatures simply because they're feeding nearby.

Choose traits around the problem interrupting your progress. Take XP gain when you want faster growth, movement speed or stamina when escaping is difficult, and bite speed when feeding and combat feel slow.

Locust has a jumping ability, so practice using it before a larger opponent starts chasing you. Keep enough room to move, and steer clear of grass, logs, and narrow passages that can block an escape.
