How to Unlock the Housefly
The Bug Evolution fly path gives you a way to get above hungry spiders instead of racing them across the ground. Unlock the Housefly at level 12 for 200 coins through the Bug Tree. You’ll start its growth cycle as a larva, so becoming airborne takes another round of feeding.
You begin the game as a tiny spider, collecting food and growing before choosing another creature. The Housefly and grasshopper become options at level 12; select the Housefly if you want access to flight.
| Progression detail | Value |

| Housefly unlock level | 12 |
| Housefly unlock cost | 200 coins |
| Creatures available through evolution | 30+ |

Track the Housefly in the Bug Tree while you work toward its requirements. Collect daily rewards and playtime rewards, and complete quests to help build your coin balance. Keep feeding for XP rather than spending the entire early game chasing other players.

Grow From a Larva Into a Flying Adult
Unlocking the Housefly doesn’t put you straight into its winged form. You begin as a larva and need to grow before evolving into the adult.

Follow this sequence:
- Unlock and select the Housefly.
- Collect glowing orbs and eat accessible food to gain levels.
- Evolve when the next growth stage becomes available.
- Once you have the adult form, use the flight controls displayed in the bottom-right corner.
Adult Houseflies can fly upward and downward, giving you another way to move around the map. Read your current control prompts instead of assuming the spider’s movement controls cover everything.
Learn to take off and descend before approaching another player. A large spider is a poor place to practice unfamiliar movement. Use a quiet stretch of the map to get comfortable, then return to gathering food.
Level Your Housefly With Food and Orbs
Flying opens up movement options, but eating still drives growth. Glowing orbs, food objects, and defeated bugs all contribute to leveling.

Use these level targets as a farming route rather than entry requirements:
- Before level 20: Collect glowing orbs while growing through your early stages. Favor larger orbs when you can reach them safely.
- Levels 20–40: Head toward the sand area and feed on sugar cubes.
- Levels 40–60: Move toward the large cave in the middle of the map and hunt the bugs inside.
Check your surroundings before settling into a feeding spot. Getting interrupted by a stronger player can turn an otherwise productive route into a chase.
After killing a bug, eat its body for additional XP. Avoid leaving food behind just to start another fight. You can also gather during the Night Hunt, which offers double XP until sunrise.
Bonus XP zones attract danger alongside their rewards. Stay outside them while learning the Housefly’s movement, especially when larger creatures are nearby.
Choose Upgrades That Support Feeding and Escape
Leveling gives you upgrade choices, including bite speed, movement speed, stamina, damage, and health.
Prioritize bite speed and movement when your goal is faster feeding and travel. Take stamina upgrades when you want more room for movement during dangerous encounters. Keep watching your stamina while flying rather than assuming you can stay out of reach indefinitely.
Flight can separate you from a ground-based attacker, but another flying creature can still threaten you. Break away from a dangerous fight early instead of waiting until your health is nearly gone.
Use the map to locate the lobby’s largest player and read area recommendations before moving into unfamiliar territory. Whispering Woods carries a Lv 15+ tag, so pay attention to its entrance banner.
Team up with friends to hunt together while you grow. For solo practice, use the free private server to learn feeding routes and flight controls before taking your Housefly into a public lobby.
