Which Bugs Can You Play in Bug Evolution?

Your next creature choice can trade ground combat for flight, jumping, or venom attacks. This Bug Evolution all bugs guide covers named creatures, unlock requirements, and abilities to help you choose your next form. The game features 30+ insects and spiders, including flies, moths, grasshoppers, tarantulas, and giant prehistoric beasts.

You begin as a tiny spider, then use the Bug Tree to unlock different creatures. These are the named choices to look for:

CreatureProgression or ability detail
Garden SpiderStarting spider choice; early gameplay includes a pounce ability.
House FlyRequires level 12 and 200 coins; can fly around the map.
GrasshopperBecomes an available creature choice at level 12.
Sun SpiderAppears among daily login rewards.
Black WidowHas a 450-coin cost and venom attacks that poison targets.
LocustHas a leap ability for jumping and escaping.
Horse FlyAppears as a later Bug Tree option.
TarantulaAppears as a later choice alongside Dragonfly.
DragonflyAppears as a later choice alongside Tarantula.
Funnel WebAppears farther along the Bug Tree.

Moths and giant prehistoric beasts also belong to the broader lineup. The prehistoric options include a creature priced at 250,000 coins, giving you a much larger savings target than the early unlocks.

Which Bugs Are Food or Enemies?

Not every creature you encounter belongs on your unlock checklist. Ants, caterpillars, crickets, beetles, pill bugs, centipedes, and sand scorpions appear as creatures you can encounter or hunt.

The EMPEROR SCORPION is a boss in Whispering Woods. Its fight uses a red boss banner, a timer, and a skull marker on the minimap. Keep that encounter separate from your Bug Tree shopping: seeing a creature on the map does not make it a selectable evolution.

How to Unlock New Creatures on the Bug Tree

Start by completing the opening tutorial. Collect five orbs to reach the initial evolution, then keep eating food and gaining levels.

For your next creature:

  1. Open the Bug Tree and select a target. Early choices include House Fly and Grasshopper.
  2. Track its requirements. House Fly requires level 12 and 200 coins.
  3. Earn XP and collect coins. Food and defeated bugs support growth, while quests and rewards help fund purchases.
  4. Unlock the creature and select it to play. Switching to House Fly starts a new growth cycle rather than carrying over your large spider body.

That last step matters. Buying a new creature and growing it are separate parts of progression. Leave yourself room to gather food safely after switching instead of immediately challenging the largest bug nearby.

Claim daily rewards before spawning. They provide coins, and the Sun Spider appears in the login reward sequence. Also collect playtime rewards during longer sessions.

Use the quest panel to pair creature hunting with coin goals. Examples include Eat 17 Crickets for 56 coins and Eat 19 Beetles for 64 coins. The Reach Level 30 goal awards 150 coins, a useful contribution toward another unlock.

Choosing Between Flight, Venom, and Leaping

Different abilities give you different ways to handle danger. Choose around the action you want to use, then grow that creature before picking fights.

Bug Evolution — Choosing Between Flight, Venom, and Leaping

House Fly: Flight and Mobility

House Fly lets you move through the air, offering a way to escape ground threats and travel between feeding spots.

Check the on-screen controls and watch your stamina before relying on flight. Running out of stamina can leave you grounded during a chase. Save enough for an escape instead of spending it all approaching another player.

Black Widow: Poison Attacks

Black Widow can poison targets and has a Venom Bite ability. Its 450-coin price makes it another concrete purchase to plan around after the early creature choices.

Use its venom against feeding targets while building levels. Avoid turning every encounter into a player fight: poisoning an enemy does not remove the danger of being attacked by a much larger creature.

Locust: Leaping

Locust provides a leap ability for jumping and getting away from threats. It also appears on the route toward later choices such as Tarantula and Dragonfly.

Use the leap to create distance when another bug closes in. Keep movement and stamina upgrades in mind if escaping fights is your priority.

Growing Your New Bug Without Losing the Run

A newly selected creature needs food and levels before it can handle the same threats as your previous grown form. Start with nearby glowing orbs, then add manageable feeding targets as you grow.

For a food-focused leveling route:

  • Up to level 20: Gather glowing orbs.
  • Levels 20–40: Head to the sand area and eat sugar cubes.
  • Levels 40–60: Hunt bugs inside the large cave near the middle of the map.

Keep watching for other players while feeding. Bonus XP areas attract danger, and a stronger bug can interrupt a promising run quickly. Whispering Woods carries a Lv 15+ area tag; read area banners before pushing farther into the map.

Choose traits that address your immediate obstacle. Take increased XP gain to speed up growth, bite speed to feed and attack faster, or movement and stamina upgrades when you struggle to escape. Damage upgrades help with hunting, but they will not help you catch a target that keeps outrunning you.

Team up with friends to hunt together, and avoid chasing stronger players while rebuilding a new creature. With 15 players per server, leave an escape route before settling into a feeding spot.
